Friday jazz

This isn’t really jazz, but I don’t quite know what it is - except that is Vivaldi like you have never heard him before. Funtwo is a Korean shredder who has a bunch of unbelievable videos on YouTube. Notice his shy demeanor in spite of his sensational playing. Virginia Heffernan profiled him in the New York Times.

Eruption of Kilauea Volcano beginning in 1983
Photo by J.D. Griggs, March 28, 1983. US Geological Survey

The US Geological Survey has a terrific photo library that is well worth seeing. The above image, of the eruption of Kilauea Volcana in Hawaii in 1983, is one of many spectacular images to be found there. Images are free to view and download, subject to these terms.

(Thanks to my sister for the link).

A rather different, and very cool, version of Take Five, by Paul Desmond, played by the Dave Brubeck Quartet on Dutch TV show.

Too Many Tristans lists the Greatest Classical CD covers, EVER! on his website, of which this is one example. So bad they are good!
